Operation Resilience

The OpRes program @PCYC is group of drop-in activity sessions that people aged 13yo to 19yo can attend at a low cost. Physical activity is proven to be great for fitness AS WELL AS for good mental wellness. This will be especially important during high stress periods like during exams. The more physical Op Res sessions aim to push young people past their preconceived limits to build  resilience responses in future times of crisis, stress, trauma or challenge. Op Res sessions generally run during school terms (some run over the holidays if demand is sufficient) and aim to:

OP RES MEMBERSHIP: Complete the PCYC Membership & medical form and waiver. A parent or guardian will need to sign if you are under 18yo. Membership is $5 and covers OpRes activities (listed below) only.

SESSION FEE:  Sessions are between $2 and $6 per session for OpRes Members. Some sessions are even FREE!

YOUTH SERVICES: A number of youth services also have reps at the sessions. This aims to increase access to information and support (if needed).   Services include HeadSpace and the DHHS Youth Health Team. Please make them welcome!

YOUTH MENTORS: Young people wearing an OpRes Tshirt are activity mentors. By wearing the Tshirt they are indicating that you can approach them for support in the session.  Mentors also help us to develop our playlists and set up / pack away for the sessions.

ADULT MENTORS: A limited number of pre-approved adult mentors can get involved with OpRes. See the Club Manager to apply for approval. Mentors must have a current Working with Vulnerable People Check on file at all times.

Iron Disciples

Iron Disciples is a group weight training session with a training mentor which aims to help maximise your training effectiveness and efficiency. Develop correct training techniques, frequencies and exercises during this friendly training support session.

The program runs during school terms. The program may run over school holidays if demand is sufficient. Does not run over January.

OpRes HIIT Fitness

Op Res is a high intensity interval training challenge session. This session will push you to your limits and beyond. Just when you thought you couldn’t do any more you will learn to reach deep and keep going.

Power Lifting

Power Lifters develop brute strength to lift weights using three key techniques – the Squat, Dead Lift and Bench-Press. These are challenging training sessions that cater for recreational and competitive lifters.

Boxing Fitness

A boxing skills and fitness session with PCYC’s Boxing Instructors. This is a skills-based, non-competitive training session. Limited places (on a first in first served basis).

Adrenalin Climbing

Indoor Rockwall Climbing on a belay system along with other adrenaline challenges like slackline (tightrope) walking, crate stacking climbs, bouldering (horiztonal climbing) speed challenges, and parkour style obstacle courses as you strive to get your PB each week!

Yoga

This is a FREE session with Sarah from the DHHS Youth Health Team. On most weeks except the dates listed in the timetable.

Taiko Drumming

Taiko Drumming Japanese Drumming is an amazing group workout AND great stress release.
